There's a particular street here in Reading that gives me a little glimmer of hope for my species every time I'm on it. It's a narrow two lane road going up a fairly steep hill, and despite it being a fairly important traffic corridor to and from a major residential area, there's parked cars on both sides 24 hours a day. What's really encouraging here is that despite the lack of signs and signals, you can get up or down the hill with a minimum of fuss. People take or yeild their spots in the 'tunnel' based on arrival times, and what seems to be general human decency, giving their opposite numbers the 'go ahead' with a flash of their brights. I can't find the article online, but Wired had a feature in their latest issue about a Dutch traffic planner who's advocating removing as much traffic signage as possible, and this was the first thing that came to mind.

You know things have turned bad with the whole virus situation when a new XP box is infected before you can even connect to Windows Update to get the latest patches. It's a good thing I've got AVG on another computer...I'm at a bit of a loss as to how I could get it up and running without it.

Holy fuck. ODB just died. After everything that he did, that was done to him, that he did to himself, it looks like it was a heart attack. A fucking heart attack! Ol' Dirty Bastard doesn't die of a heart attack for fuck's sake. Gets shot up in a three hour foot chase by vice cops, maybe. Breaks his neck jumping out a window, sure. But collapses at his studio? Damn.

Things are progressing well on the sugar front...on the other hand, I've somehow managed to consume a half kilo of cashews in the last two days.
