The first few songs of Bad Religion's set from this past weekend's Leeds festival just came on Radio 1, where they were standing in for Transplants, who'd pulled out...they started by telling the crowd that Transplants couldn't make it because they'd broken up (not true), and that there'd be 'no more shampoo commercials', before opening with Stranger Than Fiction.

Caringosity killed the Kerouac cat,
Sometimes truth...is stranger than fic-tion!

Sugatron A-5000, as my older brother will be known until the strength of his Pimp Hand subsides to normal levels, got me Iain Banks' whisky travel memoir Raw Spirit last month as part of a cruel prank aimed at reminding me of my advancing years.
Probably the most interesting tidbit in the book, from my perspective, was the fact that whisky will spoil if it's left for longer than a year after opening.
I've been an avid acquirer, and an equally avid disposer, of interesting whiskies for quite some time now, but my lifestyle over the last few years (nomadic), and my choice of flatmates (non-alcohol dependent), have led to several litres of high grade Scotch slowly deteriorating on my shelves while I blithely assumed it would last until I started attending more drunken domicile rockers.
How wrong I was. Visitors to Swagger Global Headquarters should consider themselves warned: You will be made to drink. You will be made to drink some of the very best alcohol available to the middle classes, but you will be made to drink. Bring your 'A game'. Bring your 'A liver'.

Your regularly scheduled birthday will not be broadcast today. Instead, we will be showing a repeat of the classic, 24.
